Not working in Houston biopic: Rihanna

Los Angeles, May 18 (IANS) Singer Rihanna has denied that she will feature in a Whitney Houston biopic.

“That’s just rumours. I never heard anything about that,” contactmusic.com quoted the 24-year-old as saying.
The speculation is thought to have stemmed from an interview in which Rihanna said she would give her “entire life” to play the performer who died in February.
“That would be something that I would have to give my entire life to do, because I would really want to pull it off. That’s a huge, huge role, and whoever does it has to do a good job,” she said.
“My first song that I remember falling in love with was a Whitney Houston song: ‘I Will Always Love You’. It was really inspiring, and it made me develop a passion for music, so really, she’s partly responsible for me being here in this industry,” she added.

Madonna learns breakdance from son

Los Angeles, May 18 (IANS) Pop star Madonna says her 11-year-old son Rocco is teaching her breakdance and has also introduced her to ‘dubstep’ music.

When asked if she teaches her son how to do breakdance, she said: “No, he shows them to me. But I’m pretty bad. My son loves breakdance.”
The 53-year-old says her kids – Rocco, Lourdes, 15, David, 6, and Mercy, 7, keep her up-to-date on current music trends and she is a big fan of dubstep, reports contactmusic.com.
“I love dubstep. My children have a very good taste. My children play new music to me. I play music from the 1980s to them as well,” she said.

Diaz excited to soon be 40

Los Angeles, May 18 (IANS) Actress Cameron Diaz says she loves getting older and can’t wait to hit 40.

“I’m so, so excited about turning 40. When I was in my twenties, I couldn’t wait to get to my thirties. Now at the end of my thirties, I’m so looking forward to my forties. I love getting older,” showbizspy.com quoted the actress as saying.
Diaz, who will turn 40 August 30, says age notwithstanding, she would like to have a child.
“I’m not sitting there going, Oh, my god, when am I going to get married? When am I going to have a baby,” said the actress, who is single right now.
“I would be remiss if I was living my life wishing I had something other than what I have. If, one day, I am blessed with the experience of having a child, I would be overjoyed, but I am not sitting here feeling empty because I haven’t yet, or that I may not,” she added.

Johansson hooked on to Black Widow

Los Angeles, May 18 (IANS) After playing suphero character in “The Avengers”, actress Scarlett Johansson is likely to star in her own Black Widow movie.

In actiond-filled “The Avengers”, the actress plays Black Widow, which is modelled on a character from Marvel Comics.
“The success of ‘The Avengers’ means Scarlett is holding all the cards when it comes to Black Widow,” showbizspy.com quoted an insider as saying.
“She’s a vital component of ‘The Avengers’ and it’s sequel, but she wants to have her own movie too. The chances are that Black Widow will have her own adventure on the big screen as early as next year,” added the source.

Swift donates 2.5 mn pounds

Los Angeles, May 18 (IANS) Singer Taylor Swift has donated 2.5 million pounds to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum based in Nashville, Tennessee.

The generous sum is the largest charitable gift handed to the operation by an artist and will go towards the creation of the Taylor Swift Education Center, an exhibit and classroom complex set to open 2014.
“In terms of what it will allow us to do, we do education very well now. It will allow us to do what we do better, serve more people, develop new programs and I’m happy to say that as we talked through this opportunity with Taylor, she very much wants to be involved in an advisory capacity in what we do,” dailystar.co.uk quoted Kyle Young, museum director as saying.
Swift has a long history of ties with the institute – she gave one of the earliest performances of her career in the building’s plaza and signed her record contract at the site.

Bieber scent to be honoured at FiFi awards

Los Angeles, May 18 (IANS) Singer Justin Bieber’s fragrance – Someday – will be honoured at the FiFi (Fragrance Foundation) Awards later this month and the young musician is overjoyed.

The singer, who released the women’s perfume last year, will get the Elizabeth Taylor Fragrance Celebrity of the Year award May 21 in New York.
“I am honoured to be named Elizabeth Taylor Fragrance Celebrity of the Year. It means a lot to me that my fans and the Fragrance Foundation support all my accomplishments. The best part is that my favorite charities are sharing in the success; it is important to pay it forward. Plus, I have the girls smelling great,” contactmusic.com quoted the singer as saying.
Explaining the thought behind Someday, he said it is about hope and dream.
“It explains a dream. Someday I will drive a BMW. Someday I will be an astronaut. In the commercial, (co-star Dree’s) Someday was meeting me. So when she sprayed on the perfume, I appeared in the room and we floated off into this place. That’s what I perceive it as.”
