Kabul, June 19 (IANS) Three people were killed and 11 others injured Sunday in a suicide car bomb attack targeting a military convoy in northern Afghanistan, Xinhua reported.
An explosives-laden car was detonated around 9.30 a.m. in Kunduz province, 250 km north of Kabul, killing three people and wounding 11 others, the interior ministry said.
The blast occurred near a military convoy of the NATO-led forces but no was hurt on the coalition forces’ side.
The ministry has blamed the Taliban for the attack.

Kabul, June 18 (IANS) Twelve people, among them four policemen and three suicide bombers, were killed and 12 others were wounded when militants attacked a police station in Kabul Saturday, Xinhua reported.
The bombers were dressed in Afghan military uniform. One of the attackers blew himself up at the gate of the police station, while two others were gunned down by the security forces. Five civilians were also killed, the interior ministry said.
The gun battle started around 1.30 p.m. and continued for two hours, police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai said. The injured were mostly civilians.
The police station is located in downtown Kabul close to the defence ministry and the presidential palace.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Kabul, June 18 (IANS) Four policemen were killed in a powerful blast in downtown Kabul Saturday, Xinhua reported.
The explosion occurred around 1.30 p.m. in a crowded market in Mandawi district, where gun shots were also heard.
A police officer said that a battle erupted between police and armed men after they attacked a police station in the market.

Kabul, June 15 (IANS) Two policemen were among seven people killed Wednesday in a suicide car bomb attack in Afghanistan’s northeastern Kapisa province, Xinhua reported.
A suicide bomber detonated his explosives-laden car in the Kora Taz area of the provincial capital Mahmoud Raqi around 10.00 a.m. killing seven people, including two policemen. Another seven people were injured.
The injured were taken to a nearby hospital. The police have launched a probe into the incident and further details were awaited, the interior ministry said in a statement.
Local media reports said the target of the bombing was the education department where a meeting was in progress.

Kabul, June 15 (IANS) Afghan Vice President Mohammad Karim Khalili survived a rocket attack Wednesday while he was attending an event at a police training centre in Afghanistan’s Wardak province, Xinhua reported.
No one was hurt in the attack that took place around 10.30 a.m. in the provincial capital of Maidan Shar, some 35 km west of Kabul, Mohammad Najib Nikzad, an official with the press department of the Afghan interior ministry, said.
Interior Minister Basmillah Mohammadi was also present.
The rocket landed about 100 metres away from the site where a function was being held to inaugurate a police training centre in Dasht-e-Top area. NATO and government officials were also present.

Kabul, June 14 (IANS) A senior Taliban commander has been killed in Afghanistan’s Herat province, Xinhua reported Tuesday.
Based on intelligence inputs, police launched an operation to capture the commander in Chisht district Monday night.
A gun fight broke out and Taliban leader Sayed Mirza was killed, said Dilawar Shah Dilawar, the provincial deputy police chief.
A total of 15 of his fighters surrendered to police. Herat province lies about 640 km west of Kabul.
Mirza was responsible for coordinating and conducting operations in the district, he said.
