Kolkatans fete Sachin Tendulkar
Kolkata, Dec 22 – Kolkata Tuesday gave a rousing reception to batting genius Sachin Tendulkar who was showered with adulation and gifts at a glittering function in a five-star hotel here for completing 20 years in top flight cricket.
Painters, film stars, sportsmen, business magnates, fashion designers, were among the creme de la creme to descend at the venue to acknowledge the contribution of the little master, who has brought laurels for India from the 22 yards and now holds almost all records with the willow.
Sachin’s former teammate and ex-Indian captain Sourav Ganguly described the Mumbaikar as a champion who always has his feet on the ground.
The mementos and gifts given to Tendulkar included bouquet with ’20 years’ written on it, shield, mishti doi (sweet yoghurt) and rosogolla, a photo of goddess kali, and paintings.
