177 prosecuted for employing children
New Delhi, July 8 (IANS) A total of 177 people were arrested here for employing children in 2010, up from 90 in 2009.
This was stated by Piyush Sharma, the joint labour commissioner with the Delhi government’s labour department.
Expressing concern over rampant child labour in the capital, Sharma told reporters that participation of every section of the society was needed to root out this problem.
‘Sometimes we are not able to reach each and every spot where children below 14 are employed. But it will be helpful if we are informed about child labour,’ he said.
